Board term: 2022 - 2025

Dr. Lynn Swan , MD, graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1984, U of M Family Medicine Residency 1987,  and has been in practice for over 37 years.  She has held faculty appointments at the University of Michigan and MSU -College of Human Medicine since 1987.  She is MSU-CHM’s Family Medicine Clerkship Director and works with the Family Medicine residents at the Munson campus.  She has served as medical director at U of M’s residency, the GTB Tribal Clinic, and Traverse Health Clinic.

Dr. Swan volunteered at Safe Harbor at the Wellington site upon its opening. She joined the Safe Harbor Board and became chair of the Health Committee in 2019, just before the COVID pandemic.  She was instrumental in setting health protocols including screening, rapid COVID testing on site, vaccine administration, and quarantine/isolation procedures.  She is the Medical Director of Street Medicine and Outreach for Traverse Health Clinic.

She moved to Traverse City in 1994 and lives here with her husband, David who is a dentist in TC.  They have joyfully raised four children and welcomed seven grandchildren who all live in Traverse City.  

She was drawn to Safe Harbor because of her life-long commitment and mission to serve those in need, protect their inherent dignity, and to humbly emulate the Great Physician.
